Confidence with Computers Clients
Members of staff
Rather than spending a day or two away from the office on a training
course, most of which is not relevant to the individual's
needs - a few key hours spent targeting exactly what the user requires,
can be a far more valuable way to train staff. This has the added
advantage of being able to refer to relevant documents which have caused
an issue for the individual in the past.
Case Study
On a
number of occasions I have gone in to train various members of a
Central London art gallery. This has included Maria, who
needed to use the program Publisher so that she could create
brochures when the gallery held exhibitions. I showed her how
to place pictures uniformly on a page, and add captions and text
around them.
I also
showed Tom how to correspond efficiently with emails to his
clients using Microsoft Outlook, including sending out
images of the paintings they are displaying and selling.
Sally
was shown how to set up standard letters in
Word, from which she could easily create mail merges rather
than individually write to clients,
and within Excel together we setup a database of their
collection.
